A blade or squeegee is moved across the screen to fill the open mesh apertures with ink, and a reverse stroke then causes the screen to touch the substrate momentarily along a line of contact. A jet wash makes life easy, a bucket full of water and a little elbow grease will do!
Right about now you should be able to wash the emulsion out. Keeping the screen wet is key, you don't want the remover drying out. Reapply some more emulsion remover and repeat the step above. Wait a minute or so, then give the screen a little scrub with the brush, not too hard, we want to soften that emulsion up a little and make this as easy as possible. Make sure all the emulsion on both sides of the screen is wet.
